Board of Directors Meeting

September 15, 2018

The meeting was held after the Treasure’s Training that was presented by Babs Didner, TSTA CFO. The meeting was called to order at 12:16pm by Winifred Jackson (President). The pledges and Minute of Silence were led by Norma Waters (Vice President). Winifred Jackson (President) asked that we remember Lois Stevens (Retired Member) during the Minute of Silence.

The agenda was adopted with flexibility (Sandra Patterson, Norma Waters; voice vote). The approval of the minutes was moved by Roylena Stewart-Sparrow and seconded by Sandra Patterson (approved; voice vote). Winifred Jackson (President) motioned to pause the meeting at 12:25pm for the Introduction of Guest TSTA Endorsed Candidates: Rhetta Bowers (HD 113) and Honorable Victoria Neave (HD 107). The candidates requested volunteers to help dial from your local area to help get voters to vote. The meeting was called back to order at 1:05pm by Winifred Jackson (President). The Financial report and Audit was submitted by André Williams. There were questions and discussion regarding the Financial Report and Audit by members of the body.

    1. Lucero Cazares (Garland) requested that all books be brought to all meetings. André Williams (Treasurer) agreed to bring all books to all meetings. Babs Didner (TSTA CFO) stated setting goals and give the Treasurer a break since she started mid-year.

    2. How much money did each region 4A & 4B merge with? Babs Didner (TSTA CFO) stated July 15 that it was a delay for the merger; since we actually merged before the official date.

    3. The members are requesting a detailed written report from André Williams (Treasurer).

    4. Babs Didner (TSTA CFO) will send audit for years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 for regions 4A and 4B and their allotted funds.

    5. Doris Hill (Grand Prairie) and Babs Didner (TSTA CFO) stated that Richard Kouri should put guidelines in place to help with mergers.

    6. If any local participated in the NEO grant they will split $250.00 between the locals. The information and receipts are due to Winifred Jackson (President) by October 1, 2018. You may email it to her address Winn33@aol.com; put NEO in subject box.

    7. Mileage rate (1 car per local) round trip is 0.35 cents per mile.

    8. November 10, 2018 Russell Ramírez will be in Tyler.

    9. State HOD is April 26th & 27th, ESP Conference is April 28th and Retired is April 23rd in Frisco, Texas. Texas state hotel is Embassy Suites

    10. Regional HOD is April 6th in Tyler, Texas

    11. TSTA can assist with printing all voting flyers. Voting plans must be in by Monday.

    12. Every Wednesday wear RED for Education until Election day!

Local and State Committee Reports were next on the agenda. Educational Support Professionals reported by Lucero Cazares-Rodriguez (Garland) and Koni Kawi (Garland), PAC reported by André Williams (Tyler), TSTA Retired Barbara Davis-Staley reported retired officers and TSTA Staff thanked everyone.
